Online Registration

The English Bay Scramble is part of the VARC (Vancouver Area Racing Council) race series. Participation automatically qualifies you for VARC championship points. Race resistration is also managed by VARC - except that they are using a third-party system, called "Karelo". ...

Don't let all these names (TCYC, Scramble, VARC, Karelo) confuse you - the registration is actually very simple: just go to the VARC website and follow the "Registration" link. But, just in case you get stuck, here is the step-by-step process (you can skip straight to 3.(b)):

  1. Go to varc.bc.ca.
  2. Click on "Registration" in the menu, on the left-hand side.
  3. Feel free to read all the info, but all that matters is that
        (a) The Scramble single-race registation is $40 (ignore the various "series" etc)
        (b) Just click on the Karelo.com button to continue.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and click the green "Sign Up Now" button
  5.     (a) If you have an account, just log in
        (b) If not, you have to fill in the "new to Karelo.com" information.
  6. This is the important page
        (a) Fill in your boat information (not sure about rating or division? read below)
        (b) Ignore the "Full Series Registration". Rather,
        (c) Scroll to "Individual Race Registration" and check the "Distance Series", Aug 16th Scramble checkboxbox.
        (d) Also check your acceptance of the Idemnity info - can't race without it.
  7. Click on the "Confirm" button at the bottom and proceed with payment steps as prompted.

Manual Registration (paper)

If you 're having troublw with karelo.com, or dislike online credit card payments, or whatever, your can register "manually". Print this form, fill it out and bring it to the Skippers' Meeting, along with $40.

Remember, the Skippers' Meeting is on Friday the 15th (evening before the race) at the Vancouver Maritime Museum, at 18:30. We will also have drinks & snacks, a Scramble crash course presentation, the new T-Sihirts, etc etc..
